The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs SR was the venue for the third meeting of the Government Council for Expatriate Issues, the SR Government’s advisory and consulting body on care for Slovaks living abroad that strategically guides the activities of the Office of the Slovaks Living Abroad, on 5 December 2017.

The meeting was led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs SR, Lukáš Parízek. “The Council fulfils its policy role and addresses pending issues concerning support for our compatriots living abroad and coordinates the attendance of Slovakia’s constitutional officials at activities carried out by Slovaks living abroad,” underscored Parízek. The Council discussed the status of support for expatriates’ activities in 2017, the situation in issuing certificates for Slovaks living abroad, especially with regard to applicants from Ukraine, and activities of relevant departments for expatriates that include their possible financial and political support.
